I am a native German, however, have been resident in the UK for more than 19 years and English has become my 'second mother tongue'. I hold both, a German university degree and a British university degree and have worked as a professional engineer in German and British industry and administration.

During my residence in the United Kingdom I have maintained strong links with Germany and travel every year to my hometown Berlin.

Due to my academic and professional work I have gained extensive expertise in the German and English language and use this successfully in my translations.

Equipment

For my translation work I use a Pentium desktop and laptop computer, printer and scanner with OCR software.

I usually use SDLX 2004 Translation Suite and MS Office (Word, Excel, Publisher). I have also software installed to deal with help files, web pages, CAD, and software localization.

I have an extensive library of dictionaries, bilingual reference material and have created my own specialized translation memories, term bases and glossaries.
